What Good is Your Crown?
Queen Mary by Francine Thirteen is a dramatic, bass-heavy cut with fantastic left-right panning effects and a soulful, menacing, female vocal performance.
Queen Mary by Francine Thirteen is a dramatic, bass and sub-bass heavy cut with fantastic left-right panning effects and a soulful, menacing, female vocal performance. And now you know just as much about it as I do. Almost.
Queen Mary isn't on an album. It's a single release from 2017. I can't find any producing credits for it online or in Tidal. Francine Thirteen has no Wikipedia page and hasn't been interviewed anywhere. There was no press tour. She doesn't have an episode of Cribs or an MTV Unplugged album.
She is independent. Not in the sense that it's good marketing, but more in the sense that she has a microphone, a Pro Tools account, an internet connection, and possibly little else.
Francine Thirteen is currently active on Bandcamp where she last released music on September 6th, 2024. Her Bandcamp bio reads as follows.
Francine Thirteen is a feminine entity from Venus who landed in her GrandMama's house via her Mama's womb. She sings to the cosmos, to plants, to animals, to friends, to family, and to people who buy tickets to her shows. Listen to her. She most likely loves you very much.
Fair enough.
So how did I hear about Queen Mary? I work at a hifi shop, and one of our salespeople told me I had to hear it. They heard about it from one of their friends, who told them the same thing. And now I'm telling you. You gotta hear this.
